Every year, the Labor Office of the Island Government collaborates with the Oranje Fonds to organize Statia Doet, the largest volunteer event on St. Eustatius. This initiative brings together volunteers from all walks of life to make a positive impact in the community.
In 2021, the JTL Autism Foundation submitted a project to paint a mural aimed at raising awareness about autism on the island. The mural features slogans like "Autism Rocks" and "Autism is my SuperPower," displayed in vibrant colors representing the autism spectrum. Located along a busy street, the mural serves as a visual reminder to the community, sparking conversations and understanding about autism.
In 2022, the JTL Autism Foundation received approval for a project to erect a wooden frame for a billboard aimed at raising awareness for the autism community. The 5x5 wooden frame, painted in white and bright yellow, stands prominently along a main thoroughfare, visible to all traffic to and from the airport. This eye-catching display serves as a beacon of awareness, drawing attention to the needs and strengths of individuals on the autism spectrum.
In 2024, the JTL Autism Foundation partnered with Vitality Beauty & Spa to organize a wellness event specifically tailored for children and youth on the autism spectrum. Participants enjoyed a Bio-scan conducted by Sara Stone, providing a unique analysis of their bodies' most coherent calming and focusing elements. The non-invasive biosurvey offered valuable insights into aromatherapy choices, food selection, and other activities beneficial for individuals managing their life journey with autism. In addition to the wellness activities, board games were provided for entertainment, fostering interaction and enjoyment among attendees.
